Blog Post #1 - Please join us in prayer…

One of the great honors of my life happens from time to time when someone shares that they pray for me every day. Wow what a privilege, I’m so grateful and so convinced that prayer makes a difference!

Every week or two we will share both prayer requests and also praise reports, so you can join us in prayer for our team and also the people we are sharing Jesus with.

Paul said in 2 Thess. 3 “Pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you and pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith.”

If the Apostle Paul needed prayer how much more do we!

We have a passion to share the precious Gospel Good News of Christ.

We have a passion to see lives transformed by His Word and Spirit.

We have a passion to demonstrate God’s Love - to heal the broken hearted, to see captives set free, to help the hurting and fearful, to bear the burdens of those overwhelmed with life problems and stresses…

What will do this? Is it hard work? clever plans and programs? No we need God’s Almighty Power to penetrate this world of darkness, to tear down spiritual strongholds, and minister effectively.

Yesterday (11/14/20) I got a couple of phone calls… The first someone shared the sad news that someone whom we have tried to minister to died of a drug overdose on the east side of Chicago Heights. The second was from a lady who used to be in our homeless ministry, she now has housing and is still on the edge financially so Christ Cares drops off food to her weekly (She also recently got temporary custody of three grandchildren due to her daughter being in drug rehab so there was already much need and stress.) She shared that her son died under mysterious circumstances (It was the same person - I knew both but did not know they were related), Anyway, can you imagine the pain and hurt of losing a child? I and our team need prayer as we try to bring comfort and help to this family. She lost her Large Print Bible - I’m grateful I was able to call a BRAND NEW VOLUNTEER, Tom. He came by picked up the Bible and also some resources for this dear lady … He dropped it off, shared scripture and prayer and she was so grateful…. anyway we face very difficult situations… we need God’s wisdom, love, and power…

We will also share PRAISE REPORTS… Just about an hour ago (on 11/15/20) I had a young man stop by and knock on my door. About six years ago I had the privilege of sharing the Good John 3:16 News - that even though we are sinners, lost and without hope, God’s love, mercy, and grace is bigger - “For God so loved the world, that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him, should not parish but have eternal life.” The Spirit already had his heart prepared for the gospel … now six years later he still has a desire to live for the Lord… Please pray for him as he is facing temptations… He came by because he was semi homeless (they call is couch surfing) when you don’t have a place of your own but stay in different people’s home. Due to your kindness, I was able to share some resources with him.

I look forward to being able to share, and believe the Lord desires and honors prayer. I also ask you to share your prayer requests with us - either by a comment here or by messaging Scott.
